GDAWG Members Serena Moseman and Elisa Maldonado Receive the 2007 Marine Sciences Diversity Award, GDAWG Member Russ Chapman and SIO Faculty Member Lihini Aluwihare Receive 2007 UCSD University-Wide Diversity Awards.
Russ Chapman hosts a visit of African American high school students (pdf) from the Los Angeles area to SIO in December, 2007. The visit was organized and led by Dr. Tony Jackson and Sac Carreathers, both of whom are 1974 UCSD alums.
Elisa Maldonado and Serena Moseman attend the Society for Advancement of Chicanos and Native Americans in Science Conference (pdf) in October, 2007, where they organized a symposium on Marine Biodiversity and Conservation: Multidisciplinary Research Approaches in the Marine Sciences and co-sponsored the marine sciences poster and oral competition.
Russ Chapman goes on a graduate student recruitment trip (pdf) to the Historically Black College/University Undergraduate Program National Research Conference and visits Howard and Hampton Universities and the University of Maryland, Baltimore County and Eastern Shore in October, 2007.
