Film Screening: The Gender Chip Project
Gender Issues in the Sciences
Followed by Panel Discussion
Monday, March 31 5-7pm

4500 Hubbs Hall
The film 'The Gender Chip Project' (genderchip.org), is one of very few movies addressing gender issues in the sciences. This film explores the gender disparity by addressing stereotypes and other factors affecting women pursuing science and technology careers. The film will be followed by an interactive discussion between the audience and a group of women scientists at SIO who will relate their personal experiences to topics addressed in the film. We hope that you will participate in this very important and enlightening discussion!

For an excerpt of the video shown on 2/25 on the Intercontinental Indigenous Encounter in October 2007 at VICAM, Senora, go here (link coming soon!)

For a complete version of the video ($5-10 sliding scale) or a Peace and Dignity Journey T-Shirt ($20), contact Brad bwerner@ucsd.edu (all proceeds will help support the San Diego participants). The runners will be coming through San Diego in July, staying at Chican@ Park. Members of the San Diego Community who support the goals of the Peace and Dignity Journey are invited to accompany our core runners for part of the run - a block, a mile, a state... At least two members of the SIO community will be running. If you are interested in participating, please contact Brad.

The Peace and Dignity Journey is a run, held every four years, starting in Tierra del Fuego and central Alaska, traveling through indigenous communities, and meeting in Panama. For more information, click here.
